What are those pictures by the name???

Every person who becomes a leader must be trained to do so. This can range from online training to up to two full weekends of training. This is to ensure that your son has a leader who is fully trained to keep him safe and provide the best scouting program possible for him. Each picture represents a different training event completed by that leader. All leaders are REQUIRED to participate in Youth Protection Training before any other training event. After Youth Protection Training, leaders must be trained for their specific position. They are then allowed to choose other training events that they are interested in.

EVERY BOY DESERVES A TRAINED LEADER!!!

Key:

Woodbadge Completed - Woodbadge is THE premier training for adults. It teaches leadership skills and how to create a program for the boys that focuses on the aims, mission and methods of scouting and is above all else, FUN. For it to be complete, a leader must go through two full weekends of training and then complete five ticket items of his/her choice that help the pack, community, or scouting as a whole.
Woodbadge Practical Completed - This means the leader has completed the two full weekends of training and is working on his five ticket items.
Leader Specific Training Completed - This is the training specific to the leaders position, i.e. Cubmaster, Den Leader, Committee Member, etc...
National Camping School Trained - This training is required for any leader who will be a Director or Program Director of a Day or Resident Camp. It is one full weekend of training and teaches the leader how to run a successful, fun, and safe camp.
Outdoor Webelos Leader Skills Trained - OWLS training is one full weekend intended for Webelos leaders, but open to all. It teaches more advanced camping, hiking, and outdoor skills for the Webelos leader so that he/she can pass on that knowledge to the boys. There must be at least one OWLS trained adult on any Webelos campout.
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation Trained - BALOO training is for any leader who wants a better understanding of how to properly and safely have fun in the outdoors. It teaches outdoor camping, cooking, hiking, how to set up a campsite and how to stay safe in the outdoors. There must be one BALOO trained adult on each pack campout.
Rangemaster Trained - Rangemaster training is for any leader who wants to run an archery or bb gun range at council sponsored events. Only a trained rangemaster can run these ranges and sign off on the Archery or BB Shooting Beltloops that can only be earned at council sponsored events.
Youth Protection Trained
Youth Protection Trained - Youth Protection training is for EVERY leader who will be interacting with boys. This is a REQUIRED training available online and must be completed before any other training. It teaches a leader BSA policy concerning youth protection, and also how to spot potential home problems with a child, i.e. parental abuse, bullying, etc...
Red Cross Certified CPR & First Aid

Red Cross CPR & First Aid - This training is not a required training, but a good one to have. This is CPR and First Aid techniques for Adult/Child/Infant offered by the American Red Cross. The leader who possesses this training is certified by the Red Cross to perform life saving CPR and First Aid on any person who needs it.

The addition of the (I) after the Red Cross Logo shows that this leader is also certified to teach Red Cross CPR and First Aid.

The addition of the (O) after the Red Cross Logo shows that this leader is certified in life saving skills by an organization other than The Red Cross.
